Someone whom I consider to be a reliable source gave me the following
answer to the question of SDRAM yield.

1. MU's SDRAM size @ 16M is 85,000sq.mils., which is the same as its 0.35um EDO DRAM...Hence, they will not see a significant fall-off in die output, but the supposed die generation gains due to the 0.30um EDO shrink will not be nearly as high as what MU is claiming this quarter.
