You don't know where the economy would have gone, but we all have a pretty good idea where it was heading before the Bush tax cuts allowed it to start coming back.

As numerous studies have shown, the average American saw their incomes drop since 2000. That is not what we were promised.

Where was it going? Sure, there was the dot com bust, but that was only a small part of the economy at the time. The immediate effects were minor, unless of course you worked for Pets.com. There was 9/11, but it had little effect outside of the Northeast. And even then it was brief.

Neither was a patch on the Great Bellyflop.
