Yanacocha Deposit is hosted in the Calipuy Volcanics not the Chimu quartzites. Montaya is wrong if he said the Yanacocha deposit occurs in the Chimu. I have been to talks from the Newmont geologists that indicate this. The hydrothermal system which cause the mineralization at Yanacocha at depth does cut these sediments but they are mining gold in the volcanics. The vuggy silica zones which carry the grade at Yanacocha occur close to surface in the volcanics making it profitable to mine. The Alumbre Zone occurs at 158 meter depth. Forget about the open pit.

Again Yanacocha and Gitennes are completely different. The only thing the same is the country.
