The killer showed up at their house, misrepresented himself as a UPS deliveryman to get inside, then restrained the daughter who was there. When the parents and the rest of their kids arrived home, held them at gunpoint, tied them up. Demanded to know where his ex-wife was and shot them all when they wouldn't tell. Haskell, a native of California, came to Spring looking for his ex-wife. He wasn't related to anyone he murdered. The mother of the family whose home he invaded was the sister of his ex-wife. A 15 yo girl in the family survived, called 911 and told them who committed the murders and that he'd probably be heading to her grandparents home nearby to kill everyone there. Police got to that home before Haskell did and were there when he pulled up. That started the chase which ended when police pursuers punctured his tires and he turned down a cul de sac and was trapped. Police are to be commended for responding so fast and preventing a second shooting rampage. Haskell and his wife married in CA and moved to Utah first and the marriage fell apart there. He was an abuser. He went back to CA and she came to Spring where she had family. A week or so his mother and sister got a court order in CA got a court order against him because he got violent with them. Unfortunately, Haskell didn't shoot himself ... would have saved everyone a trial and years of appeals. The shooting was two miles from our house and the standoff was one mile away. We lost 6 of 7 members of a beautiful family tonight to a horrible event. They were residents of HCWCID110 in Enchanted Oaks and also active members of our club and frequent visitors to our park. My heart aches for the family. The story is not totally clear yet, as the investigation is still ongoing. Please wait for correct information to come out so not to spread rumors. I have had some members express interest in a candlelight or donations for the family through the club. We would be absolutely willing to do whatever we can to help. We can use the park, the club, main pavilion, whatever we need. They were a part of our family too! We will post more once we have the correct information.... Jod — with Yesier Sary Cruz .
