Thanks for the info.
Unfortunately, I doubt my friend will believe the 30 day rule from earlier. He swears you can take a loss on a stock, buy it back the next hour , hold it into the next year but still take the loss on the prior sale.

Hopefully, your credibility will prove my case to him.
