He's right, there were a small minority of Jews living there in Palestine, peacefully with their Arab neighbors. Until the European Jews forced the creation of their "homeland" after WWII. It's been hell, mostly for the Palestinian Arabs, ever since.

I think that's not the 'before' Dave meant. Could be wrong.............
