I'm assuming the big phone will be more. The 6 will cost the same even with a sapphire screen.

1) I'm not rich but I don't think $150 is a huge difference to pay amortized over 2 years. Particularly if it obviates the need for a pad. - the contract is the bigger part of the deal

2) I don't think the target audience would care about $150 over 2 years - that's dinner for 2 in a really good restaurant.

3) Its likely that Apple will be able to keep up on the larger phone initially.

Apple pioneered the $200 price point for a smartphone. I think they want to have an offering there. it's just simpler not to have to deal with a price hike backlash. Like MGV says, they have a lot of margin on the iPhone to play with anyway.

But, it's essentially a price hike if they move the 5C to free subsidized ($450), then sell the 4.7" 6 at $200 subsidized ($650) and the 5.5" 6 at $300 subsidized ($750). Maybe abandon the $100 subsidized price point altogether.

There is no credible data pointing to substantial input cost increases. As for pricing, Apple products are premium products commanding premium pricing for well established reasons, your views notwithstanding. The most probable path for 2nd half numbers for Apple involves record sales of its highest margin hardware product and record sales of apps, an even higher margin product, your uninformed speculation notwithstanding.
