Stitch, thank you for your reply - especially since all of it is true.
Yet, I have seen less informed people post that DDs are commodities
and entry is easy - and others believed them! I have worked in DD
development for a long time (retired now) and can't begin to explain
how much painstaking expertise is needed to design and build a reliable DD. Even established DD manufacturers will experience
yield hits from time to time because tolerances are exceeded.
You know all this - I mention it for the benefit of others.
Your last paragraph should make it clear to even the technophobes:
