Yet another way off-topic post."does the mrs know about SI" .....hey, she's been competing for a year now with la computadora and knows that SI is a big part. "Pinches pendejos -- nada m s porquer¡as, no tienen cosas a hacer..." -- that's a direct quote, you don't wanna know what it means. On the other hand, she liked Tomato's song and is impressed with the information flow at times, we use posts for English lessons some. When her friends in M‚xico get ISP access soon, she will get addicted too and you won't see me near as much. Re your thoughts in 4429 about it being hard to imagine weather and working conditions in the northern camps; Very true, eh. We all filter info through our own experiences to get a picture of other situations, and most have nothing on which to base an image of a NWT diamond camp. I put in years in camps on the coast, but the extreme cold and the lack of natural light in the winter in the NWT is hard to imagine. They likely use full-spectrum lights and even sunlamps to keep people from going bananas, eh. One thing is true for all camps imho, in the middle of all that wilderness privacy is at a premium, and often can't be found at all, the more social and easy-going types do better. Internet access by satellite would a great outlet, and a camp like Ekati would have it, I'll bet. We'd like to see that north country, Walt, and one day we'll drive up there, but in the summer -g-, Thanks to all for the congrats ............ cheers .......macros PS ...Btw, it snowed 16 inches the other day in Guadalajara, where it hasn't snowed at all since 1881, at least twenty died in northern and central M‚xico, an effect of el Ni¤o, they say. There have been several lighter snowfalls in the highlands of Chiapas, they say it's impossible to get the kids to school before it melts, they play till they're blue, and by 10 am it's all gone...
