How do you separate "meaning" from "intent"

Are we to really believe that if a clerical error or sloppily worded law is passed, the court is bound to the specific language of the error rather than to attempt to divine what the law givers actually meant?

In this era of polarized governance I can see how judges of different political stripes might attempt to do this

I also see that if these robed bozos keep playing games with common sense, they will reduce the perception of their hallowed tribunals to the level of the paid congress critters they are emulating

..it's bad enough that you can buy your laws, it is appalling that you can also buy the legal interpretations to keep your loopholes intact like the CSCOTUS was bought for Citizens United
