I write letters back and prove them wrong and it takes a lot of time to do. I do it myself. They just like wasting people's time. I think they hope that they run into somebody that just pays something they don't owe, kind of like fraudsters that call up the elderly and falsely claim they owe money that they don't owe and if they don't pay they will lose their home and car and have to pay 10x the amount. It really is no different. A false claim is a false claim. If you file a false claim against the U.S. Govt, you're looking at jail time and huge fines. They do it to you and they say, oh sorry and we don't give a rats (__*__) about what it cost you to prove us wrong.
