Her article would hold more weight if she could explain how the value of the dollar has lost 99% of its purchasing power since the Fed was constituted. I know it is popular nowadays to believe that deliberately inflationary monetary policies have no consequences to the purchasing power of the dollar, but that flies in the face of economic history going back thousands of years. Every major super power going back to the Romans and prior have attempted to debase the currency, with highly similar results. What makes Americans believe that we'll be the only country in history to somehow avoid the same economic fate? It smacks of gargantuan hubris to me, but then again, not many people would call Americans of this day and age humble.
