Video: Woman in Labor ‘Not Allowed’ to Cross Street to Hospital Over Obama’s Impending Motorcade

Witnesses say a pregnant woman in labor was prevented by authorities from crossing a Los Angeles street to a hospital Wednesday because the road had been closed for President Barack Obama’s impending motorcade.
The unidentified woman was barred from walking the few hundred feet to the hospital for at least 30 minutes as authorities waited for the president’s motorcade to pass by, witness Carrie Clifford told TheBlaze early Thursday morning.
“I felt bad for her,” Clifford said. “It does happen when Obama comes to L.A. or I’m sure anywhere else. It paralyzes the city, it does make it complicated.”
“You can’t do the things you had set out to do because the president is in town,” she added.
KNBC-TV reporter Robert Kovacik posted footage on video-sharing website Instagram depicting the incident.
“Woman in labor on bench as motorcade passes,” he wrote, “not allowed to cross street to get to #CedarsSinai.”
A spokesperson for the LAPD declined to comment on the incident early Thursday morning and referred TheBlaze to the Secret Service. A spokesperson for the Secret Service did not immediately return TheBlaze’s phone call.
Video, however, captured by Kovacik shows an unidentified sergeant explaining the circumstances.
“As soon as we can — it looks like the motorcade is coming through right about now, so we’ll be able to open it up for traffic. The first thing we’ll try to get through will be an ambulance, but I can’t guarantee there will be —,” the officer said before the video suddenly ended.
A picture snapped by Clifford showed medics attending to the woman as they waited for the road to reopen.
Clifford told TheBlaze she left the scene before the incident was resolved. According to KNBC, at last check, the baby had still not yet arrived.

For what the California taxpayer pays these cops, you think perhaps they could think just slightly out of the box and figure out sometime during the 30 minutes leading up to Obama’s arrival how to safely and effectively walk a wheel chair over from the hospital and take the woman across the street. Seriously, the Secret Service or the LAPD couldn’t RISK helping a pregnant woman IN LABOR across the street without jeopardizing national security of the President who would not arrive for another 30 minutes? Have we really fallen to that level of common sense? Is the TSA in charge of everything now that we can’t differentiate between terrorists and pregnant women, Americans and Illegal Aliens? Are we all just faceless, nameless, storyless, minions to these people in power? Never mind I can answer that myself.

This is how far we have come – Kennedy would drive around in a convertible waving to the crowds – Obama won’t risk driving in a speeding motorcade on POTENTIALLY unverified streets. Once our Presidents would “rub shoulders with the masses”, now they screen who might heckle them at “public speeches”. Once you could trust the press and the camera – now Obama assembles a bunch of fake fans and puts them in white lab coats and pretends they are Doctors that support his medical plans. Once politicians served the citizens, now pregnant women in labor are told to wait – “hold it in lady, the grand leader approaches.”

First time Obama heard about it was on the news (of course) – But it is his Secret Service that must have denied the LAPD the ability to do anything or have any consideration for the woman. They do have a badge and a radio (not quite the magic of a pen and a phone I gather) but if Obama won’t act – well, they should have just gone it alone and made the call to do what was right.
This had better make the national news rounds! this is more than a disgrace – it is a perfect analogy of O-Care in general and how our Gov. views it’s citizens. Stay out of their way!

$h1t, I’ll bet Reagan would’ve been furious if he’d found out something like this happened during one of his motorcades. Common sense, which isn’t so common anymore, should have been observed by security personnel…would’ve taken minimal effort and time; might have mitigated a possibly critical situation.

This incident perfectly illustrates who is waging a war on women and who is waging a war on the unborn.
It will be a story the mother and child can tell on the child’s birthday over the years. How we once had an imperial president who waged a war on the other branches of government. A president who tried to agitate uprisings over Supreme Court rulings he didn’t like. A president who ignored laws and changed others through executive order. A president who was elected on lies and promises he never intended to keep.
Hopefully, when this child is older this dark period of presidential abuse of the executive office will be behind us and we all will be able to laugh about it as an aberration in American history.

The President should not paralyze a city’s day to day…who the hell give Barry or ANY President the right to do so. Where the hell do they get off upending someone’s life just because he wants to go golf or see the town? Come on America, George Washington went on rides into town all by himself when he was President…..Washington was a big boy….come on people this the way we used to treat Kings, not the man of the people. Look at that poor woman suffering becuse Barry’s stupid car happens to be on the street. If that had been my wife, I would have picked her up (ok, maybe I couldn’t under the circumstances, but I would have grabbed her by the arm and walked her) and I would have started crossing the street yelling “Pregnant woman coming through!” with the cameras rolling I would have dared those cops to shoot or lay a hand on her. We would have been in the middle of the empty street before they knew what happened.
