Carl...The best chart and balance sheet belong to one that has had a nice move but should it pull back a few points would be worth another look:

Also like AEM which looks to be turning up and offers good upside from both gold and silver.

I have been buying phone stocks for my conservative portfolio as they offer consistent earnings and appreciation from lower interest rates as would bonds. I like GTE,ATI & BEL but would also consider some gas utilities after research.

Other areas would be foods ( I don't like the favorites..too high) so I'm looking at RAH but the chart got scary and is starting to look better....maybe Ray can offer an opinion on this one. They compete in the cereal business with generic brands.

Companies holding gov't bonds,such as insurance companies would be another. Especially those in the consolidating property/casualty industry...FG,TIG,etc.

Just my ideas for hedging or capital preservation but as Dennis Miller would say... " Just my opinion, I could be wrong ".
