Most asians aren't that sophisticated to understand the implication of the financial crisis. But I do see some belt tightening going on in Singapore. There seems to be less spending on big ticket items like cars, PC etc. The retail industry is going down. This should hold true for the other Asean countries since they are much more affected than Singapore.

The opening up of the Asean market is imminent. However there will still be protectionism going on with all the politcal clout weld by the businessmen. However I am quite optimistic that the current crisis will blow over in a year time. Its all depend on the cut throat measures and poltical wills of the indivdual countries to ride it out.
