FWIW, I put the odds of Dems holding at less than 50%

...a sad commentary on the cumulative stupidity of the American electorate, a substantial fraction of which, it appears, keep their head firmly planted in their respective asses..

The incumbents, particularly the Democrats are not yet out there campaigning in full swing. The Republican incumbents who are facing primary challenges such as Mitch McConnell are already campaigning. In such a scenario, political pundits are predicting a 51-49 result for Republicans. Their crystal ball also tells Thames that many races will be close and that some are within the margin of error. So while I would note the prediction of 51-49, I would still keep myself open to a 50-50 result if not better in favor of Dems.
