[ADSL plays] <<<Now that AMTX is gone, how would you play ADSL? Orctf, Pair, WSTL, ADI, TXN - all of them?>>> I'm agonizing over the same question. TXN, of course, but it's far from a pure play. ORCTF, a good global play, but I don't see them winning the big US contracts. PAIR --- great company, but its ADSL is a bit slow coming to market, so I wouldn't consider it for that yet. WSTL, I already posted my concerns. ADI, the same as TXN, too big for a pure play, and if their chip isn't out on schedule (the full, up and running variety), they could be hurt. Actually, I'd love to invest in Efficient Networks, but it's private. Same with TUT Systems. Oddly enough, if Cisco does what I'm afraid it's going to, it may be a quasi-ADSL play. I wish Mark Lewin were here (gone on vacation for a few weeks) -- he has a great ability to analyze companies for their different strengths. I'm building a position in SSPIF based on its relationship with TXN in DSP solutions. They're developing RAS products and the CEO told me they'll be adding ADSL in about six months. I figure I'll just buy and hold. At $6+ --- off 52-wk high of 14 --- there's not a lot of downside. ANIC I've added b/c it's a well-run company with stellar growth and covers wires and gadgets for all kinds of communications, including cable and telco. Apart from these my only new position is CKFR --- Internet bill-payment, with a partnership with Integrion (IBM, Visa/USA, and 18 major banks) and 1000 other financial institutions. If you're interested, check out the SI thread. There's a cordial cadre of intelligent, well-informed followers who'll answer any questions you may have. Which brings us back to ADSL and no clear answers. If you have any ideas, let me know. Cheers! Pat
