Ok, here is a little hint. There is more to the oceans than the surface. That paper you reference is totally irrelevant to this particular issue.

There is plenty of evidence that the oceans are warming. From the bleaching of corals, to the accelerated melting of sea ice in the Arctic.

Paradoxically, surface waters have cooled in the Pacific.
