Derrick means ASEAN, as in Association of South East Asian Nations, a cozy club of 8 (or is it 9?) nations in--no prizes for guessing--South East Asia. Of all the Asean nations, Singapore is perceived to be the most solid vis-a-vis fundamentals: huge foreign reserves (3rd or 4th largest in the world, I think), a highly educated, English-speaking workforce, superb infrastructure and a no-nonsense (virtually zero tolerance) government. It therefore follows that Singapore has been least affected by the Asian crisis, but it has nevertheless been rocked. In the event of a recovery, I think Singapore will be at the forefront. Disclaimer: I'm not a Singapore-phile, but facts are facts ;-) Winston

Michael, please find some manners and then gain some knowledge before attacking somone from Singapore which is part of an economic regional trading bloc called 'ASEAN'. The person you responded to from Singapore was referring to ASEAN and not to the word Asian in his post. No need for a reply, but rude, uninformed posts are not necessary.
