>> The IRS informed the NAACP that the audit was prompted by then-NAACP-chairman Julian Bond's speech, which "condemned the administration policies of George W. Bush on education, the economy and the war in Iraq."

That's silly. It would never happen that IRS personnel would tell "why" an audit is occurring. Even if they knew. Having been in hundreds of IRS audits of individuals, corporations, tax exempt entities, partnerships, you-name-it, it just wouldn't happen. As the guy who prepared the returns you often have a pretty good sense of what triggered an examination. But you never really know and the revenue agents seldom know.

I handled some very extensive examinations for clients under investigation for bank fraud, where the examinations were clearly triggered by FBI investigations. The revenue agents conducting those examinations had no idea there was even an FBI investigation underway; they were floored when they found out. Had I not told them, they'd never have known it.

>> According to that well-known liberal rag, the Wall Street Journal, Public Interest Watch had tight connections with ExxonMobile

Yeah, that's what I call "evidence." Are you joking?
