One of the things I do in my work is mentor IT project managers. One of the things I tell them is that if you aren't willing to get fired you will never be a top project manager, because you will be too willing to shade the truth in order to keep your job. If our leaders won't even raise the issue than they need to be questioned about it by the press and the citizens. The press is weak because of the collapse of the newspaper industry, which impacts this issue and others.
