Hi Zeev Hed; My kynar silver-plated wire wrap wires stayed
clean and fresh if I kept them in their sealed plastic containters.
But if you left them open, they tarnished in a couple months.

Certainly those 1-inch diameter plastic tubes had plenty of
oxygen.

My conclusion is that LA's sulphorous air tarnished my wires,
not the oxygen.

So I agree. Silver does not oxidize at normal temperatures
pressures, etc, appreciably.

Maybe there is some catalyst that can cause Ag to oxidize
quickly, just as iron rusts in the presence of moisture.

The basic question can be solved by anyone who kept their
chemistry book from college. Anybody remember anything
about entropy and enthalpy?

Anything to talk about other than the market....

Oh.... Am I off topic?

**** Market Factoid ****
Chickens used to be more expensive than just about any
other meat. (Apologies to TLC.) This was the orgin of the
phrase "Chicken in every pot." Now from the postings we
have got from the famous 12 footer(s) recently, we should
rewrite this to be: "Pot in every chicken." Anyway, when
chicken raising ceased to be a hobby and became a
business, the price of chicken meat dropped drastically.
**** End Factoid ****
