MSB, The car that you are probably referring to is the Toyota Prius.It is a hybrid gas/electric that gets the equivilant of 66 mpg. They will be sold only in Japan at first, but they hope to market them in the U.S. before 2000. They were hoping to sell 1000 a month, but they already have orders for several thousand, and the first one doesn't ship untill this week. It runs on Nickel Metal Hydride batteries at slow speed, then kicks in the gas engine when needed. More at toyota.co.jp Del
