Nostrum Oil & Gas (NOGN.L)
2Q14 operating update in-line, GTF-3 progressing
1 August 2014 ¦ 8 pages ir.citi.com

Nostrum Oil & Gas released its 2Q14 operating update. While operational and
revenue performance was in line with our expectations during the quarter, the
company demonstrated significant progress with the GTF-3 project, which should
double Nostrum's output by the end of 2016. We believe the 2Q14 update should
be positively taken by the market.

2Q14 call highlights – Yamal LNG and sanctions
1 August 2014 ¦ 7 pages ir.citi.com

Novatek hosted its 2Q14 conference call a day after outperforming analyst
expectations at the EBITDA and net income line. However, unsurprisingly the
headlines from the call focused not on the company's financial performance in
the 2nd quarter, but on the recently announced sanctions from the EU and US on
Russia’s oil & gas sector. In the event, Novatek’s Yamal LNG project, which
appears to us to be potentially the most vulnerable of Novatek’s ventures to
sanctions, will likely be largely unaffected, as will the company’s dividend policy.

Russian Oil & Gas

EU sanctions details released
1 August 2014 ¦ 12 pages ir.citi.com

The EU's new sanctions on Russia's oil & gas industry appear largely as
expected given news reports in recent days that appear to have been tailored to
primarily affect new potential oil plays. Per the press release, equipment will not
be cleared by the EU for export to Russia if it is destined for oil exploration and
production in deepwater offshore, in Russia's Arctic, or in shale plays. However,
it seems that the EU has excluded Russia's gas industry, as opposed to its oil
industry, from any sanctions, which should be good news for the LNG ambitions
of Gazprom, Novatek, and Rosneft. Additionally, only new contracts will be
affected by sanctions, potentially providing an out for the ExxonMobil-Rosneft
JV's exploration of the Kara Sea and test drilling in Russia's Bazhenov shale by
that JV and by the RD Shell-Gazpromneft JV.
