[C6X]

<<<Have they released their c6x chip?
If not, does anyone know when they will release the c6x.>>>

It's out in beta, but the working, commercial C6X isn't. I keep track of its progress about every 2 or 3 weeks and as of Friday it was "on schedule." Now, that's a slippery term. I believe this means early '98.

<I have not followed TXN closely. Have they released their c6x chip? If not, does anyone know when they will release the c6x...>

A much awaited chip, reported to be out soon (maybe C1?).

The benefit of the C6X is it's speed, approx. 10 times faster than anything else currently out. The concern of C6X and other DSPs are their high power requirements (and consequent heat generation), size and price.

So keep an eye on Lucent's new 16210 DSP. It uses up to 5 times less power, and in it's second iteration due in 98Q3, will be faster than the C6X. Don't know what TXN has planned. Anyone?

Regards-

Steve
