With all the negativism out there, perhaps it's a good time to review Philip A. Fisher Common Stocks /Uncommon Profits on "When to Sell".

If the stock was selected properly at purchase, on the basis of the 15 points The best time to sell is : never.

(Intel being one of the best managed companies is an exemplar of the 15 points.)

Another observation:
"After growing spectacularly for several years a companies growth prospects may be exhausted, and only perform as well as the industry as a whole. This change may not be due to any deterioration in management. Many managements show great skill in developing allied products to take advantage of growth in their immediate field. They recognize they have no particular advantage in unrelated spheres of activity. If after many years of being experts in a young growing industry, times change and the company has exhausted growth prospects of its market, its shares have deteriorated in an important way from the 15 points, such a stock should be sold."

(somehow I think there's a little growth left in computers, don't you?)
