d-fndr,

Regarding your previous post (see below) about Zip disks not being included with refurbished Zip drives:

"Excellent post, Dale. It's more innovative IOM marketing in the broadest sense: the margins are probably good to IOM with equally good margins to the retailers; the retailers can use the low price to pull more people into their stores (as KE noted re: Zip off-MAP in last CC). IOM is giving the consumer, particularly current Zip owners, a low, low price (I don't think the refurbs come w/ a disk)at which they can obtain another drive at $69-$89; a full Zip w/ disk for $109-$129;
and Zip+ for $199 (haven't seen that discounted anywhere, despite
SparQ; of course, don't know how that's selling). This, it seems to me, keeps IOM as the retailer's best friend (as opposed to LS or SyQ)."

A few weeks ago a friend of mine bought a refurbished parallel port external Zip drive from PC Mall (Torrence, CA)for $89 ($10 mail-in rebate). It came with the latest Zip tools on a Zip disk, along with the floppy installation disk. This is the third Zip drive he has purchased.
