Robert,

>Fact is:

The 203mm2 you are quoting includes the die area of the tag ram and onboard 512K L2 cache. Since these are physically on separate dies within an MCM, they have no impact on the CPU clock speed. The die area of the PentiumII CPU is actually quite small.

Clock speed is largely constrained by the speed of light. It takes more time to move electrons through long wires. Thus smaller dies tend to be faster.

WinSpeed 180 Lite
WinChip C6 180Mhz CPU w/ heatsink and CPU fan
FIC VT-502 motherboard (w/ Intel VX chipset)
32MB EDO RAM
1.2GB EIDE hard drive
1.44MB 3.5" floppy drive
12x EIDE CDROM
1MB PCI Cirrus Logic 5446 video card
Minitower case w/ 230W power supply
104key keyboard
Serial mouse
Windows 95 pre-installed (with CD and full license)
Base price without monitor: $679.00

As of December 8, 1997, the C6 180Mhz is available for $79, and the C6 200Mhz for $99. These chips will work in any Pentium motherboard that supports a 180 or 200Mhz clock speed and a 3.52v chip (which includes all of the Pentium motherboards that AES currently sells). Several of the motherboards we offer have BIOS-level support for the WinChip, and many others will soon follow.

I think this is the only system I've seen w/32MB below $700.

Bob G.,

You didn't really expect to have an intelligent conversation with Scumbia did you?
