Maybe we don't need machines to do the job people can do. Maybe we need to close ATMs during banking hours. Maybe my gas station does need a full-service pump. Maybe we don't need robots in auto plants. Who does it help when Big Boss Man replaces 5 tellers with a machine that works 24/7 without getting overtime or employer contributions for social security? People aren't corporations; they need food and water, shelter, and clothes. Takes jobs for that.

"On the other hand, we want Americans to have jobs that innovate, "
We don't all have that potential. Half of us have IQ's < 100, and the rest are left of center, but, I digress. We do have need for people doing old-fashioned work. The person who cures cancer of the ebola is still gonna need a mechanic to keep his/her car running.

<On the other hand, we want Americans to have jobs that innovate, design newer versions of iPhone etc. conduct frontline research such as finding a cure for Ebola or a cure for say pancreatic cancer etc. And we can only do so if we educate our people, provide them with a clean and healthy environment so that they do not fall sick very often etc. Our Govt. should tax the 1% and divert those tax revenues to good education, scholarships, intervention programs etc. That is the key to prosperity And jobs that result from a good education demand high wages and with higher wages we can afford to have good social programs further.<

A terrific viewpoInt.. However one based really on opinions and wishful thinking..

It's easy to identify a problem, and determine a solution that is outside of one's actual ability to implement even part of it.

i.e. Problem: The World is a chaotic place.. Solution: We should have World Peace...

you see... That was easy.. NEXT problem????

I take steps that I can implement myself to better the lives of the 99% TODAY. I don't outsource jobs that others are paid to do, TO MYSELF in order to enrich the 1%.
