If the concept you're trying to prove is that a train can be built, Houston/Galveston is fine.

If you're trying to prove it makes economic sense, no way. The ridership would never pay even a small fraction of the cost of that route.

Yeah, the top speeds being touted by the Chinese would make me very nervous.
