hello sjs, thank you for the validation per ballet dancer and teacher. much appreciate.

yes, erita did well, and to come in at #3 in an age grouping of 9-12 when she is not yet 10 is perfect. #1 and 2 were previous / experienced competitors and much older.

erita does well, does right, does good. when i tally up what we help her to do, i say to self, "whoa, and she is not yet in college; and i guess i must and am assuming that she shall attend college"

the coconut receives almost daily instructions from japanese and chinese ballet teachers. the japanese-owned school is supposedly the best in town, and a chinese teacher takes own time to give erita top-up instructions.

erita also gets bi-monthly guidance from a ukrainian russian dancer (the tips are actually awesome - including, question: how do you keep the shoe laces from getting loose / untied? answer: spray the know with hair spray)

the chinese teacher tells us that erita is too intense and therefore not suited to professional track

it is not that we wish erita to be on the professional track but we listen to the teacher's advice and so ask erita does she want to adjust her 'too intense' mode. answer yes, and so we have her enrol in australian psych group learning about self and others, a 3-months program involving one weekly sessions at the university on saturday mornings. brilliant move. works like magic.

etc etc

and then there is the calligraphy and painting and flute

at least we are done w/ the swimming, skating, and i do not remember what else

there is some sort of ballet competition / exhibition coming up on the 13th (elimination) and 16th (final), and we dash for foie gras land where we follow the country side roaming with guided museum tours for erita by a curator type, family friend. jack will eat, sleep and play. for his time is not yet.

:0)

speaking of jack, he is probably more out-of-the-box, whereas erita is perhaps more 1.2.3 ...

watch & brief

erita and jack were playing mine craft together (apple app that is sort of a 3D computerised lego game allowing geo-transformation, construction, as well as creation of animals and people)

- one hour per week of iPad in two sessions allowed

conversation overheard

jack: erita, can you build me a big house?

erita: sure. let me find a good village [i.e. next to water, w/ forest and meadow, etc etc]

jack: i want the biggest house

erita: let me get a house for myself first

jack: why are you killing the villagers?

erita: they are in the way and their houses are nice

jack: can you get me a house?

erita: sure. let me get another house for myself

jack: why don’t you make more villagers so they can build more houses?

erita: because they are a pain

jack: why don’t you just make a volcano and use the lava to kill all the villagers

erita: then the houses would be under lava

jack: yes, but you can make a river and put out the lava

erita: good idea

dada: kids, time out, dada has something to say to the both of you ...
