TCI CEO Malone presents refined vision of Cable/Internet
At Fridays Cable Industry Annual Trade Event John Malone presented a refined vision of internet services. Cable a poor man's Net?
Some excerpts:

"That would include things such as e-mail, local weather and traffic reports, program listings and home shopping that is made even easier than it is now.....

......You could order cubic zirconia with the click of a button, he said"

Malone promises that certain internet ads would be seen by all subscribers.

I don't view this vision as internet on cable, but a few internet like services. I also think it clearly indicates that the Cable industry has concluded that full internet access via Cable set-top box is not feasible for quite some time.

Here's the link.

Mohan, >>>Any idea what the impact of this could be?<<<

Zero, nada. zilch. The next killer ap for consumers will come out of left field. But, you've gotta keep trying. If it comes, it comes. Otherwise, lets keep our eyes on the ball. NT 5.0, Merced, and big iron.
