Bob, it is a funny thing about the homeless. They deserve it, much of them, others don't at all, others never had a chance to do anything else with their lives.

I gave up trying to judge who was worthy, and who was not. Among the worst of the worst are probably prodigal sons.

We don't get the blessing for which person we did anything at all for that deserved it the most, actually the blessing is in that we did it.

True story.

Even among the worst of the worst, there are some that just gave out of their want, and God will bless them as he does everyone else who gives. Who knows, that may be why we target some and not others.

I remember a black woman begging with a sign by the roadside, looking numb and for all the world like a zombie. I went back, as compelled.

Turns out this woman had just lost her husband to a murder, and she was begging for rent, and was so desolate with grief she could hardly speak. And a backslidden Christian. I believed her. I was glad I had stopped. Was it real? Does it matter?

FYI.
