I was very proud of my mom at the burial of her mother, in Crockett in E. Texas. The funeral director was trying to gouge her on the cost, and she told him that him if he didn't reduce it considerably, she'd just go to the black funeral home! Shocked that even a "big city" woman would propose this, with visions of blacks in the "white" cemetary, he halved the cost almost immediately!
