There have always been subclassifications of race. What makes this racism particularly awful is:

1. Prior to the need for slaves in the Americas and the de las Casas opinion, Africans were seen by Europeans as exotic but not inferior. The inferiority came out of the need to justify keeping them as slaves.

2. Millions have died as a result of it.

The cat got let out of the bag around the turn of the 16th Century. It was in another state by midway through the 18th Century, and we've only begun to get on its trail in the last 50 years. We're not getting it back in the bag in our lifetimes.

You have it reversed. It was racists who made the distinctions........how else could they justify enslaving other human beings?
