Meathead: Lowered earning expectation is certainly a temporary setback, but I think this certainly is a welcome news in the long run, as I don't believe either CPQ's,nor Dell's earnings will be down 11%,oh sure may be from the lofty expectations that these nincompooph analysts had come up with. This is certainly not a reflection on the company itself but rather it speaks volumes about the abilities or lack of it,of these so called analaysts'. You may disagree but this is my take on this whole thing.

Meathead: SoundView guy lowered CPQ earnings BUT NOT THE RATING.

<NEW YORK, Dec 15 (Reuters) - SoundView personal computer (PC) systems analyst Mark Specker lowered his fiscal 1998 profit estimates for Compaq Computer Corp to $3.45 a share from $3.66 a share.

-- Specker kept his fiscal 1997 estimate at $2.68 and kept his ratings unchanged. They are short- and long-term buy. .
