It's the calendar, not Asia

The reason we're seeing such volatility in the techs is that you have a whole bunch of very nervous fund managers out there worrying about blowing their 1997 performance numbers just as the year winds down. As a result they're taking a "shoot first, ask questions later" attitude towards everything.

That's the bad news. The good news is that they are raising cash. Combine that with the mutual fund inflows we'll see in January and we're poised for a very nice bounceback next month.
