And how fast he moved from being nobody to 'looking real good'!

There were several reasons for that. In no particular order.

1) He promised bipartisanship. In retrospect he was naive, but he did try.
2) He took a stance against our various wars.
3) There are a lot of people who don't like the idea of dynasties.
5) Even if dynasties didn't matter, the Republicans had spent decades building up an anti-Clinton arsenal.
- They later threw it all away when they tried to build up Clinton to make Obama look bad. Talk about a massive backfire.

6) Hillary is a hawk
7) Grandpa McCain was promising to be another Dubya, but extra-strength. Literally promising.
8) Grandpa picked a horrible running mate.

I sure hope you would not have voted for him that first time. His ties to Ayers and Rezko were public. His spiritual mentor of 20 years had been outed as a hardcore racist. He was on record for wanting to "spread the weath" socialist style...

Yes, and I have said it several times, having had voting rights, being somewhat naive I'd voted for him back then.

But giving him my vote for a 2nd term?
Only those blinded by ideology could ever make such a stupid decision.

Even if people were not blinded by ideology, there is no alternative. The GOP is a disaster.
