>> UPDATE: Reminder: Amtrak Subsidies Pale in Comparison to Highway Subsidies

UPDATE: Amtrak carries almost no riders compared with cars and trucks. So, yeah, the subsidies are lower.

The bad news is that for Amtrak to carry more riders you'd have to add more routes which would require vastly MORE subsidies.

If they were financially attractive there is plenty of investment capital. The problem is they aren't.

The same clowns who subsidize a handful of politically favored flights by $3700 per passenger also want to subsidize uneconomic rail systems by ... $3,700,000 per passenger, I'll bet.

Harry Reid may subsidize flights to Ely NV $3700 per passenger, but most routes don't have those subsidies, just a few politically favored ones.

Only a libtard wingnut would think the nation doing one stupid thing is justification for doing something else even stupider.
