That post is non-responsive.

I wasn't really referring to a news reporter who doesn't know shit from Shinola.

But beyond that, the essence of the article is that the charges against Perry MAY be productive because

a) He didn't demand the resignation of two other DAs who were convicted of drunk driving. But then the writer goes on to point out that Perry had no leverage over the other two. Which could explain why he didn't do anything -- he couldn't. But there is a pretty big difference between two run-of-the-mill DAs in small counties versus one running a "Public Integrity Unit" in Travis County. And, of course, Perry DID have the leverage.

b) The claim, which obviously there can be no evidence to support, that Perry was somehow trying to prospectively cut off this investigation by the PIU which it is alleged would benefit him in some way. This connection is tenuous at best, and the political reality is that even if it could be shown that some political contributor benefited in some way (for example, as it was when Obama used the trillion dollar stimulus to pay off contributors) it is another thing altogether to show illegal intent.

This is why attorneys and scholars all over the country have come out and said, "This stinks." Dershowitz is no idiot, and he's no Republican.

Hi combjelly; That post was an abusively long waste of copy and paste garbage. I'm pretty sure you didn't mean to do it. Go back and look at it if you don't know what I'm talking about.

The article on Perry was exactly what I want to see. What I don't want to see is the stuff you posted along with it began with the following uninteresting topics:

10 ways to serve corn on the cob
Grab a slice or the whole pie at one of these D-FW pizza joints
6 commercial jingles '80s and '90s Dallas kids will never forget
Big Tex Choice finalist: How the Fried Gulf Shrimp Boil came to be

followed by 50+ pages (!!!) of pointless comments.

Anyway, if it happens again I'll put you on ignore along with one other person (who's a right-winger). It's not a matter of politics; it's that I don't like having to page through huge documents like that. Give an abbreviation and cut it down to a single page and I'll keep reading your stuff forever.
