I used to date a girl that spent almost her entire income on a nice but small 1 bdrm apt. in an upperclass area. So much that she lived on mostly ramen noodles. But, that was her priority. Mine was exactly the opposite, as I like to live in the slums for the cheap rent, although I made enough to live in a much better area comfortably.

When they decide to settle down most will self deport to the suburbs.
Yeah, but the real estate in said suburbs is crazy expensive.

People who want to escape that will move to the East Bay, or Gilroy, or some other far out neighborhood. But then they'll endure long commute times and may have to resort to alternatives like carpooling.
