Thank you for the explanation. For the same reasons you mentioned I wanted to buy fertile farmland in Romania, prices where around $1600 per hectare (2.43 acres) but by end of 2008 it jumped to $2600 so we gave up.

Yield in Romania is much lower than in the US and everything is less mechanized. As not being farmers but financial investors it did not work for us.

Big companies like Cargill are doing very well in Romania, but smaller enterprises lost money because of many reason including shrinkage and local mentality
