I assume you agree, as do virtually all economists, that some sort of method is needed for taking negative externalities into account? If so, it all becomes a lot more complicated than you make out.

Eric, Let the markets rule. You repeatedly say the economics of your dream schemes are superior to fossil fuels. If you actually believe that crap you would not get so exercised as the rule of markets will rule.

Bob,

Where electricity is expensive such as Hawaii and other places in the world PV generated electricity is already much, much cheaper.

No subsidies required in more and more places.

Just finished wiring up a system for a friend of mine in So California. He and I did all of the work. Total installed cost of about $1.10 a watt. Grid tied. He will add batteries later to have some redundancy.

His system is rated at a nameplate capacity of 12 Kwhr. He's getting a pure electric car and wanted excess generation to take care of it.

On days in the summertime he is easily generating over 50 Kwhrs per day.

Should easily zero out his utility bill over the course of a year.

Forgot to mention that the PV's on my off grid house built in 1991 are all still going strong. Not a single failure yet in that 44 panel array.. 23 years old this summer.

Electricity generated without a single moving part...

Eric

P.S.
