Yes Vietnam, Cuba and the East European Soviet Gulag of puppet countries show how peaceful and willing to live and let live China and the Soviet Union was. Against sane enemies, MAD is the only certain reasonable defense. Giving them a thought they can use a gun to get what they want is the sure way to getting a war. OK we could have laid back and All Europe, All Africa and All South America would likely have become good commie countries. Maybe even Canada and Mexico.
