I think if you checked, you'd see that the time spent on smartphones is actually growing as a percentage of all other computing experiences, even as the options increase. There might be a time when a watch could replace some of the phone usage, but for now, I can only see it being useful for connectivity as a last resort in situations where I cannot use a phone. Like when one arm is trapped under something heavy :).

Like Jobs said when he announced the iPad-- it had to be better at what it does. What could the iWatch be better at than the iPhone to justify it being on your wrist?
