the Ukraine has US advisers and mercenaries, as well as plenty of Russian equipment.

Trying to change the subject, BC? That propaganda piece is pretending that it is just the brave rebels, fending off the fascist hoards. Like Mother Russia did during the Great War. It plays off powerful memes for the Russian people. As any good propaganda does.

We aren't talking about Ukraine invading a poor and poorly trained neighbor. We are talking about Russia doing it. This isn't Red Dawn: Eastern Front, where a plucky group of civilians fend off the ravening hoards of a major military power with nothing but hunting rifles and courage. But an invasion by a sophisticated armed force from a much more powerful neighbor.

The Russian equipment that Ukraine has is 20 to 30 years old. What Russia has is probably newer, what do you think?

Even if this started as a proxy war, and I don't think it did, it isn't now. It also is a dangerous one, at least for Europe. Heck, Sweden is even start to position for it. Merkel is still trying to come to grips with it, but her options are shrinking by the moment. And it looks like NATO is an actual organization and not just a club.
