With the USA in an isolationist mood, and with an isolationist president, it is to be expected that totalitarian regimes will retreat from free world pressures to adopt more democratic principles and processes. We can be thankful that China, unlike Russia, is not making territorial gains by force etc. Perhaps China will take a page from Putin's book when he gets away with invading and conquering Ukraine, followed by re taking eastern Europe that was under Moscow's umbrella until Glasnost?
