I wasn't aware of those changing numbers. Though, like you, that change is not surprising, given the pace at which the larger culture has changed. I was thinking rather of the fact that the congressional caucus which provides the most consistent and widest support for gay rights is the black caucus. At least so says John Lewis. Which suggests that, at least several years ago, the black community was working between two strong narratives--the old fundamentalist gay bigotry and the comparison of the gay rights movement to the black civil rights movement. Looks as if the second is now winning.
