>> Its just another version of tough love. And it works with some people but not all people are able to overcome the negatives in their lives. There are white people who struggle in the same way and they don't face discrimination for their skin color on a regular basis. And blacks do need to work harder to improve their lives and not excuse themselves when they commit criminal acts.

We all have negatives in our lives. It does not justify irresponsibility. You just deal with it. Whining about the distant past which had no effect on you is just wasted energy. These people should get off their asses and do something constructive.

The important point is that this individual understands what has to happen to improve the lives of blacks in this country. Quitting the whining is a good first step.

Not mentioned is that fact that the welfare state encourages and finances this irresponsible behavior. A substantial portion of these people would be forced to do something different if there were no war on drugs and if free shit from the government were tightly controlled and in some cases eliminated.

The only whining I hear is from the right complaining that somehow blacks are getting the upper hand in this country when all the evidence points to the opposite. And all that whining comes from the right's sense of entitlement and narcissism.
