This whole mess is a direct result of US and German/EU fantasies. Nations heritage and world view.do not change within a generation ME and Pakistan India conflicts are the proof.

The Brits spent 40 years in Iraq and it was not long enough. It took British rule in India for over a century before democracy stuck.....

agree with the rest of your post, unfortunately, Obama has no world view, no historical view and is an isolationist....he will fiddle while Ukraine burns and Putin laughs his ass off.....

Vladimir Putin's dangerous image of himself

Many think the Kremlin leader is only a propagandist who does not really believe in his hero role. There is evidence that he does. Who is watching him, finds the clues.

welt.de

That Putin, to say the least, lives in ever greater "asynchrony" with most of its western neighbors, it hardly and not hide with the most benevolent explanations can be. The walls around Putin country are visible and measurable. Since the beginning of the Ukraine crisis his kingdom has its own language, which is due almost entirely controlled media spoken by almost everyone.

In this vocabulary there has never been an uprising in Kiev Ukrainian citizens who prefer endured for months in the cold, than to tolerate that their kleptocracy would firmly anchored in Putin's Eurasian Union in a very long time. No: In Kiev there was one of the CIA incited and financed fascist coup. The separatists are not criminals who rob crash fields and arbitrarily confiscate the property of Ukrainian citizens, but patriots, fighters against fascism. The Ukrainian army not to defend the territory of a sovereign state, it is the new Wehrmacht. Russia does not send troops, but from time to time be Russian soldiers lost on Ukrainian territory.

The zaristischste ruler since Stalin (read the article translation is a bit weak)

Putin shakes in Minsk Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko hand and assured Chancellor Merkel in phone conversation that he wanted peace. And shows the natural world the next day, that he has already begun a war. At such moments, the question is interesting, whether Putin is a lying cynic or someone acting that way because he believes it all is himself. Much speaks for the latter. And evidence suggests that Putin maintains this belief using multiple walls that he has built between himself and "his" Russians on the one hand and the West on the other.

He is the zaristischste all non-monarchical Moscow ruler since the days of Joseph Stalin . Someone who seamlessly in the Kremlin Genealogy adapts which exclude, surrounded by boyars despots. His court never made, of course, the proud descendants of the Russian aristocracy. But first oligarchs who owed ??their wealth to the grace of the sovereign and thanked with loyalty.

Now that the oligarchs show to be too vulnerable to western decadent temptations, he surrounds himself again very closely with his friends from the KGB who share his view of the world: history is made not by chance, but by resolute men; Policy consists mainly of secret quarrels and intrigues, and exercising of power is to use if possible ausgebufftere means than the opponent.

Belief in the moral strength of Russia

The largest and most dangerous Wall to Putin's world but is (also) the least objective: It is his definition of Russia and Russian identity. "Each country may have its military, technological or economic strength," Putin said in the Valdai Club, but: "Critical to the success are the intellectual, spiritual and moral strength of a society." And he says with intellectuality not as existential for the development of a society critical questioning of the status quo, but, "the extent to which a country's citizens identify themselves with their own history, their tradition, the spiritual and the genetic code of their nation."

The "morality" of a society defines itself not on legality and legal certainty, but about "spirituality" and the alliance with the Church. Your strength is not about their performance, but their patriotism. This included a "uniqueness", which is based on authenticity, the "Russian soul" who acquire no one but you only to a certain extent could have by birth. This is the ultimate foreclosure.

Haim Remark - This is the essence of the theory and this is why I posted on this SI board the historical aspect and the believes of Russian present rulers - the concept is the same as those of the ancient Varangians and the Rurik Dynasty and for those uninformed I would suggest to re-read the history of Olga Sviatoslav, his sons the bloody accession of Vlodimir or Ivan Grozny and his Operichina - this is to Putin the "Russian Soul" and that is why Lavrov brought up Kiev and Kiev Rus in his diplomatic discussion and public statement. If this is not terrifying then I wonder what is. ISIS wants back the Caliphate of Crusader times, Putin wants the Kiev Rus empire that Olga and Sviatoslav started within ALL the former Soviet Union and beyond.
